In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) unanimously adopted a resolution introduced by India, to celebrate 21st June as the ‘International Day of Yoga’. The Government of India has since decided to celebrate annually, the International Day of Yoga, throughout the World.
The 1st International Day of Yoga was celebrated in Atlanta, Georgia on June 21, 2015, with great enthusiasm and popular participation.
The 2nd International Day of Yoga is being celebrated in Georgia by the Consulate General of India with the support of around 50 Yoga associations/institutions/organizations, and the City of Sandy Springs, on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Hammond Park, Sandy Springs, GA-30328. The Consulate will also be celebrating the International Day of Yoga 2016 in the other seven states/territories in Southeast United States, under its jurisdiction.
